My name is Carmel Keane, and I was born in 2000 in Galway, Ireland. I currently live and work between Nantes and Strasbourg. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Strasbourg in 2022, followed by a Master of Fine Art (DNSEP) from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Nantes in 2024. I am currently preparing for the agrégation in Fine Arts, with the goal of teaching in the Académie de Strasbourg.

My research focuses on sociological and feminist themes, as well as psychology, mourning, and collective memory. As a multidisciplinary artist, I combine art, design, and craftsmanship to create works using wood, glass, analog photography, ceramics, fabrics, found objects, and poetry. During my Master of Fine Art, I explored the concept of "extimacy," which is defined as "the desire to make visible certain aspects of oneself that were previously considered part of intimacy." Today, my work is increasingly oriented toward writing and the spatial presentation of poetry.
